DupeAlerte #4: Recreating Stila's Patina

by Natalie

We took Stila's ultra popular liquid lipstick shade and recreated it into a classic creamy lipstick.

March 01, 2017

In our new 'DupeAlerte' series, we're re-imagining the most popular colors seen online using the Finding Ferdinand Starter Kit! If you have a new favorite color you would like us to recreate, email us at hello@findingferdinand.com.

In one of our recent custom color requests, a customer had indicated in the notes section of their order that this color was “based on patina.” After glancing at the cool-toned pinky-mauve creation, I knew exactly which ‘Patina’ they were talking about. As one of the OG brands on the liquid lipstick market, Stila has produced colors as highly coveted as their formula, and ‘Patina’ is their #1 seller. And while liquid ipsticks are all the rage right now, we, like many of you still love a classic creamy lipstick, which is why we are publishing this dupe!

As a Finding Ferdinand Mixologist, sometimes I feel like I have seen every color combo possible. But every so often I come across a submission that makes me want to double up the batch and this particular mix was definitely a gem. Combining Mauvelous, with some Creamy Mauve, a splash of Pink Pizzazz and Bing Cherry for depth, we reimagined Patina as customer’s ‘Toute Paree’ (French for All Over… Oh la la! A little taste of Paris, just like our FF Girl Sticker Set.), see below:

And for those of you who want to keep things simple and grab a curated color, my signature shade Gigi gives a very similar effect but with a more purple tone rather than pink.
