As a kid, I was always so excited to play with my mom’s lipsticks and eyeshadows. After doing some growing up, my makeup skills have (thankfully) gotten better.
As we grow older, however, the skills that we’ve mastered when younger may not work the same - mature skin has its own elasticity and texture, and can be hard to work with if you aren’t experienced. We believe that you are never too old, however, to have fun playing around with makeup!
The FF Team partnered with Beth at Fifty Plus Beauty to give you some tips and tricks to help you keep discovering your own beauty at any age. Check out her video showing off her custom palette!
We love the way Beth's palette turned out! She chose some great nudes, as well as some bold and fun shades! (I personally think Paaank is the perfect bright pink blush.)
Working with mature eyes, however, can be tricky if you're unfamiliar with the techniques necessary for applying shadow on delicate skin. Here are some of our favorite tips for perfecting eye makeup at any age!
Eye Makeup Tips & Tricks:
- Gently apply eyeshadow by tapping - don't pull! This will push around the delicate skin of the eyes.
- Lift the eyebrow while applying shadow to allow product to get all over the lid without settling over creases.
- Pencil and powder for eyeliner can be more forgiving than liquid. Our favorite tip: use matte black eyeshadow and an angled brush to line your lids!
